How a German Mass Shooting Shows a Possible Deadly Future for America
American Thinker ^ | 02/27/2020 | Jared Peterson

On the evening of February 19, 2020, in the west German city of Hanau, a severely disturbed 43-year-old German male opened fire in two separate bars frequented by persons of non-German origin, particularly Turkish, killing nine innocent people. It appears that all the victims were non-Germans, either immigrants or first-generation born of immigrants. The murderer fled the scene, returned to his apartment, and turned the gun on his 72-year-old mother and then on himself.

Eleven dead.

The perpetrator, Tobias Rathjien, apparently never married, had posted an extensive internet manifesto before his evil deeds and, possibly, a video, where his crazed and odious views were on display, as well as his obviously severe mental derangement.

The events are still being investigated, so many of my sentences must begin with the phrase "it appears" or "apparently." But the political consequences of this appalling mass murder are unfolding so quickly in Germany — and in much the way I would have predicted — that I thought it important to comment now, based on what is tentatively known.

Significantly, it appears that all of the murderer's internet leavings have been taken down, so it's impossible now to add to the little that was quickly spotted about his severe, probably psychotic, delusions and paranoia.

Was that intentional, to make it easier to present him as a "typical right-winger"?

Some of what is known about the man, per various news sources that had brief access to the written manifesto and video:

He apparently expressed a belief that all people in Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia, Israel, Pakistan, Iran, India, Vietnam, Cambodia, and the Philippines, among other countries, must be killed. He apparently said he favored reducing the world's population by half through mass murder.

If he had been a billionaire he could have just given an interview to a journalist.

More gun-free zones.
Such nearly unheard of in gun-allowed zones.

Sounds like he was intent on reducing man-caused CO2 emissions.

Think globally, act locally.

The long term consequence of constant misinformation by our left wing media on left wing nut cases is some of them becoming completely unhinged.

The goodness is that he wasn’t confined in an asylum.

GUN CONTROL IN GERMANY:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_control_in_Germany

In Germany, access to guns is controlled by the German Weapons Act (German: Waffengesetz) which adheres to the European Firearms Directive, first enacted in 1972, and superseded by the law of 2003, in force as of 2016. This federal statute regulates the handling of firearms and ammunition as well as acquisition, storage, commerce and maintenance of firearms.

In a debate on gun control after a school shooting that killed 15, one weapons expert said that Germany’s weapons laws were among the world’s strictest, and yet still a shooting that killed 15 was able to happen. Others argued that more control was needed.

While gun ownership is widespread, and associations and ranges for shooting sports and the use of historical guns and weapons in festivals are not forbidden, the use of guns for private self-defense is restricted. The German Ministry of the Interior estimated in 2009 that the number of firearms in circulation, legally and illegally, could be up to 45 million.[

Germany’s National Gun Registry, introduced at the end of 2012, counted 5.5 million firearms in use, which are legally owned by 1.4 million people in the country. About 1.5 million sport shooters in several thousand Schützenvereinen own and use guns for sport, about 400,000 hunters have a licensed gun, about 300,000 collect guns and about 900,000 own an inherited gun.

If all of the murderer’s internet leavings have been taken down, then how do we know that his views were crazed and odious?

“...Germany’s weapons laws were among the world’s strictest...”

Just like Chicago, NYC etc etc etc, which work swimmingly well.

Yup.
I went to a gun show in Germany.
Content was pretty much split between serious sporting arms, and high-quality antiques & archaic designs (gigantic muzzle loading pistols of note). Practically nothing for mundane self-defense.
Not outrageously difficult to get _a_ gun in Germany, but _what_ you can get is unusable for personal protection (and pretty much anywhere would be off-limits if you could).

Perhaps the Hanau killings will spark the Communists’ revenge for the Reichstag fire and its aftermath. I am not convinced that Angele is not a Communist herself. She is East German and as a youth was apparently a member of Communist youth organizations and STASI.

Based on German news commentary (piece by piece)...this guy had certain elements of paranoid schizophrenia going on for years...minor in detail. At the beginning of 2019, he became unemployed. Little is said how they let him go or the reasons....which six weeks later is rather odd how the journalists just dropped this part of the story.

What they do say is that around early fall (six months into unemployment, and still having another six months of unemployment compensation to go)...the unemployment office cut him off...no more funding. Again, nothing is said on why they did that.

Around a month after that, this Hanau guy goes to the state prosecutor office and lodges a complaint that some world intelligence organization was attempting to get into people’s heads. By law, they had to accept the legal complaint, but did nothing. His schizophrenia, I would suggest had gone from the mild stage to the extreme stage.

At this point, a true governmental authority, with laws available, should have stepped in and put the guy into confinement and possibly long-term facility control. But nothing happened.

Reichstag Fire was the very first thing I thought of when I saw how Merkel and the Leftist German political establishment was trying to weaponize the act of a lone lunatic.

Unfortunately in Germany there are not the absolute protections of free speech let alone gun rights that exist in the US constitution. Also the Establishment has complete and utter control over the MSM. They are even more sycophantic and vile than the American MSM. In addition to that the Establishment can get away with internet censorship that simply would not fly over here. Germany is hopeless. It is a dying country and cannot be saved.
