Coronavirus is already being studied as a having a fecal oral route vector. It has already been found to be in the feces and urine of infected people. The virus was spread from one floor to another 7 floors down in Hong Kong via the sewage pipes. The questions are one does a normal sewage treatment plant process inactivate this virus by the time of effluent discharge and if not does the potable water treatment plant chlorination or ozone process inactive the virus before it gets into the potable water system. If both are no then yes the water will be turned off. Also in a hard core quarantine water supply workers could be on lock down as well, no workers no clean water again the system shuts down. Most cities are down river from anothers effluent discharge Dallas drinks water that has been through ft worths effluent system in the trinity river Dallas also discharge effluent into lake lavon which is the source of most of west Dallas and all of Collin county drinking water they call it indirect recycling of water.
