Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the WHO's director general, played down fears of a global COVID-19 pandemic despite the emergence of new outbreaks of the virus in South Korea, Italy and Iran. He said that "using the word pandemic now does not fit the facts, but it may certainly cause fear", though he added that "the sudden increase in new cases is certainly very concerning". South Korea has now confirmed 977 cases, Italy has recorded 283 and Iran has reported 95. Despite the WHO's statement, many experts believe a pandemic is inevitable and that it's only a matter of time until they start using that term.
There have been some positive developments regarding containment of the disease, however, with the number of recoveries surpassing the total number of daily new infections for the first time. That occurred on February 19th, according to Johns Hopkins University tracking, when there were 439 new cases and approximately 1,800 recoveries.
The trend has continued since then with fewer than 600 new confirmed COVID-19 cases each day and an even greater number of recoveries. The slowdown of the outbreak has occurred mainly in China where control measures such as quarantines, self-isolation and movement restrictions are finally having an impact.
Despite that positive development, the spike in cases in other countries suggests that the world is still approaching a tipping point in its attempts to limit the outbreak. There are now more than 2,000 cases of the coronavirus in over 30 countries outside China and while the WHO has said that it's too early to describe its spread as a pandemic, it did warn governments to be "in a case of preparedness". The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the U.S. is already preparing for a pandemic by coordinating with hospitals, pharmacies, supply chain partners

This can’t be true, that recoveries are overtaking the number of new cases.
I read free republic comments a lot, and I know for a fact that half the world is going to die.
I hope this is true, but I’d hesitate to take the numbers from the Chinese Communist Party as gospel. They still aren’t forthcoming with the numbers from the Tienanmen Square Massacre.
Everyone thank the almighty WHO for their propaganda!
Recovery is pretty vague term. The reinfection variable remains, which is most likely killing healthcare workers. but they gotta calm the markets.
The end is not near? I wish you guys would make up your mind, I had the perfect spot to watch the end of the world.
And that's just in the first 6 months.
First I hope it is true
Did WHO state they would not use the word “pandemic”? I think I read something were they stated that. Was that from the fake Media
Also some people stated we should not believe the Media when it comes to this topic. The Media is out to take Trump out.
Does MSN distribute Main Media stories?

Great point WHO excepts the CCP data without question.
We have huge advantages in this over China, Europe, and the Middle East:
1. Much smaller population density and mostly single family homes instead of apartment towers.
2. Better hygiene and more frequent hand washing in the US, we have paper products at restaurants, restrooms, etc.
3. Air and water quality is infinitely better in the US.
4. Much lower percentage of cigarette smoking in the US.
I was horrified watching my in laws go thru the virus in China, but I think the biggest problem we will face here is the supply chain breakage and decoupling from China.
Everyone needs to understand that the store shelves are going to empty of Chinese made products very soon, so plan ahead.
LMAO.
Prepare yourself for the zombie deluge.
“Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the WHO’s director general,”
This guy covered up Cholera outbreaks in Ethiopia when he was health minister there and recently praised china for being “transparent” in their handling of the COVID crisis.
It's your duty to panic. Don't be a denier, get with the program and start running around screaming at the top of your lungs, if your lungs are still functioning.
My simple question about this virus is this:
Are the recovered persons still tested positive for the virus and can they still spread it?
...
They can’t spread it and they won’t test positive using the standard test.
However, Duke just developed an antibody test that will indicate if somebody who has recovered was infected previously.
Singapore just used the test to identify two recovered people who were key spreaders in their outbreak.

Sadly, they are the only figures we got (or anybody has). I imagine to get something that’s closer to the truth you’d have to come up with a multiplication factor that seems more in line with reality.
“I think the biggest problem we will face here is the supply chain breakage and decoupling from China.”
Agree. It’s stupid to not consider that and to take precautions to lessen the impact. But then one might be accused of panic buying and be scolded by the “It’s just a virus” crowd.
F’em.
I’m sorry about your in-laws.
You are right about the supply chain.
