Disagree. If they use the word they must be expelled immediately! They know how hurtful it is when they hear that word so they know how hurtful it is to use that word. No mercy should be shown as it is doubly bad for the victim to deliberately use that word.
Yes, it would wreck sports teams and entire studies departments by eliminating their students but if it saves just one student from being offended isn't it worth it?
What’s the problem? The teacher prepared them for the use of the ‘n’ word. University students ought to understand that culture changes and slavery is no longer allowed - since 1865, as a matter of fact/history. Discrimination against anyone who has a black slave as an ancestor is also not allowed, nor are racial epithets acceptable behavior.
Failure to teach our younger generation these facts is abusive to their mental and intellectual growth, in my opinion.
