Guns are not an uncommon sight in the Statehouse when gun legislation is being debated, particularly handguns on belt holsters.

Guns are not an uncommon sight - could have stopped there. The legislation in question extends the right to keep and bear arms openly or in concealment, which applies only to Idaho residents under current law, to everyone who is a citizen of the United States or a member of the armed services. It's a pity such legislation is even necessary.

I submit that stories shrieking "An 11-year-old girl toting a loaded AR-15 assault weapon..." are a perfect example of what Mr. Nielsen is talking about. In fact, no one was in any danger and everyone there knew it.

That is true and I will not argue that point.

However, our Founders knew full well what they were doing when they made the very obvious distinction of using the words “SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED” in the Second Amendment. That was quite intentional and for very good reason.
