Ads attacking Bernie Sanders are a waste of money for the same reason ads attacking the President are a waste of money.
There are no people on this planet who didn’t have firmly held opinions on Bernie Sanders. The guy has been in the public eye for _forty_ _years_.
He went through this exact dance four years ago.
He is who he is.
His supporters are not going to have their minds changed.
I think the political consultants are bleeding Bloomberg dry and laughing all the way to the bank.

“Ads attacking Bernie Sanders are a waste of money”
It will backfire and make Bernie the nominee.

Both ads aren’t so much attacking their ostensible targets as telling people who like neither Trump nor Sanders that Bloomberg is their guy. It’s pretty much the same reason Trump keeps kissing up to the black community - not because he actually expects a significant number of blacks to vote for him, but to appeal to nice white lady suburbanites (aka moderates) who may have seen any number of network news people describe Trump as a borderline Nazi in not so many words.

In other words, he’s indirectly saying to Buttigieg, Biden, Klobuchar and Yang supporters - don’t waste your vote on these losers, cast it where it will count - vote for Bloomberg.
