What these *democratic socialists* (ie: Communists) always fail to acknowledge is that “human-rights violations” are a part and parcel of any Communist regime.
It’s a matter of human nature. There will always be dissent. With dissent there comes oppression of the dissenters. When oppression doesn’t work then it becomes persecution of dissent. When persecution doesn’t work then it becomes prosecution and imprisonment, and on and on and on until it becomes genocide.
This is the fatal flaw of Communism. It can never be *done right* because it completely goes against human nature, and nothing can ever change that.
My husband was from Iowa and had friends in the Amana Colonies (a somewhat successful socialist community). One day while visiting, a friend was starting to plow the communal land. He drove across the field and the tractor ran out of fuel. He walked all the way back, filled a gallon can, walked back out to the tractor, emptied the gallon can, drove back to the barn and filled the tractor gas tank. Wasted about an hour. Hubby said, “No independent farmer in his right mind would do something that stupid.” I feel that most of all America is an entrepreneurial country, not so much Capitalist or Socialist. So many workers even if they have a good factory or office job look forward to some day having a business of their own. A franchise they buy, a farm of their own, a property they can rent to others, a bed and breakfast, etc.
