The incompetent police often accuse an innocent husband without a shred of evidence.
If they released him, there is probably a LOT of evidence clearing him as by doing so, they completely lose faith. At least they seem to be honest and not doubling down on this poor guy to save face.

A normal geek would have established phone contact with her, and talked to her the entire walk back to the room and then back to her.

He has no phone (apparently) but she had hers. She is susceptible to asthma attacks, but doesn’t carry a breather/pump with her in a purse.
They have drinks, walk on the beach, and she has an asthma attack. That wouldn’t bring on an attack, would it? What might?
He would need to run back to the room if her phone was weak on charge or couldn’t get a connection. But why would she wander off and leave her stuff where it could be found?

I have asthma. And terrible allergy to Red Wasp Sting. 2 more stings and my specialist says I AM DEAD. Until I hear results of autopsy I will NOT believe he killed her. Our son in 2004 took a Ceclor, antibiotic pill, his doctor gave him, and he almost died. They worked on him for SIX HOURS in emergency room. He recovered fully. But I sure wouldn’t suspect the husband in this case@!
I have asthma attacks, I have an inhaler, I don’t carry it with me. My attacks are very few and far apart, and I know what to avoid.
