I have had experience with close relatives including my mother who had progressive dementia going into Alzheimer’s; it isn’t pretty to watch or experience.
Sometimes it is nicer to recognize it and deal with it rather than pretend it isn’t happening.
I sympathize with the family and friends, but sometimes friends have to act in everyone’s interest.
