Acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney told a crowd at a private gathering in England on Wednesday night that the Trump administration needs more immigrants...
...
We are desperate desperate for more people, Mulvaney said. We are running out of people to fuel the economic growth that weve had in our nation over the last four years. We need more immigrants. [In a recording shared with Washington Post]
...
Mulvaneys remarks appear in contrast to the public position of several top figures in Trumps White House especially that of senior policy adviser Stephen Miller who have been working to slash legal and illegal immigration through a slew of policies that aim to close off the U.S. border to foreigners. They have insisted that the steady arrival of newcomers depresses wages for the blue-collar U.S. workers whose votes helped lift Trump to the presidency in 2016.
During a visit to the border last year amid a record surge of Central American families and children crossing into the United States, the president said the country could not absorb more newcomers.
Our country is full, Trump said. Cant take you anymore . . . so turn around.
Mulvaneys private remarks were more in line with conventional GOP views of immigration...

“Mulvaney is absolutely correct, we need to recruit skilled foreign talent to keep the Trump economic boom rolling.”
Bullshit.
There’s plenty of talent and skill available here. It’s only a matter of pay.
Only a fool or a traitor would say otherwise.
It’s been reported by multiple outlets.
He said it.
And he meant it.
“people who are afraid of immigrants”
It’s not fear, it’s animus.
And a desire to preserve the culture.
Thank you for a cogent post on this topic. Immigration of highly skilled persons is a huge economic benefit for our nation and our communities. As you state, not all immigration is the same and legal immigrants are far different than illegal immigrants so it is not fair to apply the same brush to all of them.
We are approaching max employment for highly skilled positions and the increase of wages bears this out. However, we are starting to see a vacuum for highly skilled labor that will never be filled by those who live on entitlements or come here as adults with no skills. The need for skilled workers will limit our ability to grow our economy and we are unlikely to teach people to “code” in some fantastical job training program funded by government.
What we do not need is more general labor as we are entering the era of automation, AI, and robotics. Many unskilled positions are already filled by machines and this trend line will not stop in my lifetime or the lifetime of my children so there will be far less necessity for general labor as our kids grow up and in the future.
All three of Trump's Chiefs of Staff have supported massive legal immigration and Amnesty of some kind.
Both of Trump's first two DHS Secretaries supported the same thing.
I blame Trump - the guy who hired all these people.
Sorry, that's not serious.
New immigrant citizens vote 80% for the Democrat Party. Non-white USA citizens vote 75% for the Democrat Party.
Since the 2016 election, Trump has added 3 million new naturalized citizens, 8 million new non-white 18 year old voters, and he has issued 4.5 million new Green Cards.
Our “dying demographics” are the least of our worries.
Japan has worse demographics than the USA, but somehow they have the third highest GDP in the world, and they have a smaller population than Mexico!
“Remember that Mulvaney was a South Carolina Congressman.”
Did you see Muvaney in the PBS Documentary on the 2014 Amnesty (very) close call? He was telling his SC constituents (his voters) that we MUST have Amnesty - and the people he was talking to were AMERICANS, not college students.
President Trump has been able to lure many of the millions of long term unemployed on government welfare or disability, many of whom lost their careers at the start of Obama and have not worked since, as well as the chronic unemployed off the dole and back into the workforce but that pool is drying up and/or dying off so there is a very real shortage of technical and managerial talent as well as skilled technical workers
At the same time, there are plenty of very skilled European, Canadian, Aussie/NZ, South African, Kong Kong and South American workers who would love to escape their home countries problems and come to the US
At the same time, there are some really talented Asians and transplanted expats who would love to follow the return of many lost manufacturing industries back to the US
A traitor in our midst. You're fired.
Another thing for El Rushbo to ignore. I feel bad for Rush but please Rush, get of the globalist band wagon!
conventional GOP = Free Traitors.
And then pay them the min. wage, right?
Newly minted immigrants citizens vote Democrat 90-10 over Republicans. F that.
You are a filthy traitor. F off.
BS, Go away loser.
Oh BS. Pay more and you will get a bigger labor supply through education and birth. Prosperity breeds more Americans. Importing people begets socialism.
You are so full of sh!+. What good is it to have a growing GDP ( questionable getting that thru immigration ) if per capita income is flat or declining because of inflation and flat wage growth? That is how you get a President Sanders....
I agree! We need a zero tolerance policy on FR toward globalists, immigration hawks and Free Traitors. If we can't shut that down here then it can't be shut down anywhere.
Every globalist post needs to be countered by 10, 20 maybe 50 counter posts.
I love a good brain drain.
Quantity over quality, eh?
