CNBC’s Jim Cramer said Thursday that he found the Democratic debate in Las Vegas difficult to watch as Sen. Bernie Sanders assailed billionaire Mike Bloomberg and the wealthy.
“It was painful because your wealth was really under fire last night,” Cramer said on “Squawk Box.” “How did this get to be, that if you’re wealthy and you’re a Democrat, it’s just bad news? And I think that’s a shame.”
Sanders has emerged as the front-runner for the Democratic nomination after strong performances earlier this month in the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary.
Ahead of Wednesday’s debate, the Vermont independent nheld a 10-point lead in an an average of national polls. He also holds a 14-point lead in an average of state polls for Nevada, which holds its caucuses Saturday.
Cramer said that he thought Sanders sounded like a communist during the Vegas debate.
Sanders, a self-described democratic socialist, advocates more federal government control of the economy while keeping a political democracy intact.
He proposes a broad range of social programs including “Medicare for All,” free tuition at public colleges, a federal jobs guarantee, alongside a wealth tax on the richest Americans and higher corporate taxes.
“Is he really a socialist? Or is he a communist? What is socialist about what he wants?” the “Mad Money” host said. “Isn’t he more of a communist?”
Socialist models rely on government planning to drive the economy. Under communism, the state controls the economy and government, aiming to eliminate social classes.
Asked for comment on Cramer’s remarks, Mike Casca, a spokesman for Sanders’ campaign, said in an email, “How can anyone look at the massive level of wealth and income inequality in our country and say to themselves, ‘Yeah, this is fine?’”

Has Cramer been sleeping under a rock for the past couple years? The Dems didn’t say anything last night that they haven’t been saying (or worse) for a couple years now. The mask finally is coming off and they aren’t worried about being branded as Socialists and Communists anymore.

We have a massive number of people who are not capable of producing much economic value. We have a few people who create vast amounts of economic value. Mr. Casca seems to be suggesting - like any garden variety Atlas Shrugged villain - that the latter are responsible for subsidizing the living standards of the former.

Bernie would have to move far to the right to be a Communist. He’s a Stalinist.
I’m not even sure most people know what Communism even is, or what its history is, or what it does to people.
I think a lot of people are similar to Bloomberg in that they are knowledgeable and good at one thing and one thing only, and they know jack squat about anything else, and, on top of that, they are totally dishonest.
Bernie SOUNDS like a communist because he IS a communist.

TV in the room showed the 90 minute film “Is Explaining Glorious Workers Gains in Five Year Coal Production Plan” with English subtitles. “Gosh this Soviet TV is fascinating.”
If it wasn’t so tragic, this would be delightful to watch.
The Democrat party is supposed to be a counter balance to the GOP. Different ideas sometimes spark good solutions.
The Dems have spent years taking over the schools and the media. They’ve indoctrinated the masses. What they didn’t count on is that the masses will be coming for the Dems too. Sooner or later, someone like Bernie, or even more radical is going to get power. And the liberal elites will be fair game.

If Crazy Bernie is the nominee, I predict the Tiny Tyrant will pout and stay home on General Election Day. He’s insanely jealous of Trump, I can’t see the Tiny Tyrant swallowing his pride and voting for Trump.
