I may be naive in my assessment, but I actually hope that bloomberg buys his way into nomination and completely alienates all of the bernie-bots who will hopefully either stay home, vote for Trump out of spite, or write-in bernie's name as a protest vote. My reason for thinking your assessment is not naive is the “Trump as master persuader” factor.Trump is predicting that the DNC will cheat Bernie again. The effect of that on the Berniebots will tend to be to make them adamant that Bernie will not be bought because they cannot be bought.
I.e., Trump is minimizing the possibility of a Presidential nominee not named Bernie Sanders coming out of the Democratic National Convention at the head of a unified Democrat Party. And there doesn’t seem to be a lot of reason to expect that Sanders can do that either, so . . .
Other than that, Trump has promised to keep his powder dry until October.
