China's Government Is Like Something Out of '1984'
Townhall.com ^ | February 20, 2020 | Victor Davis Hanson

The Chinese communist government increasingly poses an existential threat not just to its own 1.4 billion citizens but to the world at large.

China is currently in a dangerously chaotic state. And why not, when a premodern authoritarian society leaps wildly into the brave new world of high-tech science in a single generation?

The Chinese technological revolution is overseen by an Orwellian dictatorship. Predictably, the Chinese Communist Party has not developed the social, political or cultural infrastructure to ensure that its sophisticated industrial and biological research does not go rogue and become destructive to itself and to the billions of people who are on the importing end of Chinese products and protocols.

Central party officials run the government, military, media and universities collectively in a manner reminiscent of the science-fiction Borg organism of "Star Trek," which was a horde of robot-like entities all under the control of a central mind.

Thirty years ago, American pundits began gushing over China's sudden leap from horse-drawn power to solar, wind and nuclear energy. The Chinese communist government wowed Westerners. It created from nothing high-speed rail, solar farms, shiny new airports and gleaming new high-density apartment buildings.

Western-trained Chinese scientists soon were conducting sophisticated medical and scientific research. And they often did so rapidly, without the prying regulators, nosy elected officials and bothersome citizen lawsuits that often burden American and European scientists.

The truth about President Trump's decision to call China to account over its systematic abuse of international trade norms is not that Trump's policy is reckless or ill-considered. It's that at this late date, the reckoning might prove too little, too late.

This danger has troubled me as expressed in this reply downstream

And how do we think the Chinese government. All of that big leap into highly scientific and highly successful endeavors? By infiltrating our universities and companies with spies and stealing it and by our beloved left-wing wackos giving it to him for free. Of course some of them got paid.

Western governments envy the control Red China has over its population; we built them, and provide the technology for them to imprison their population.

That’s actually a very Salient point. I think President Trump should borrow that and use it as a defense for buying us products only and not buying anything from China because when we buy things from China with more and more imprison their people.

They can NEVER be trusted.

Henry Kissinger and Richard Nixon orchestrated China’s acceptance into the mainstream.

I agree and Henry Kissinger was certainly one of the biggest globalist there was tied closely with George HW Bush. However in the past 20 years there has been bleached of assistance from Clinton and Obama and the bushes. Way more than Nixon ever did. You remember the satellite information that the clintons gave them to allow them to launch their satellites. That was to allow them to launch their missiles... Dianne Feinstein’s personal spy?

I have always been suspect of these infiltrators. My ex’ lawfirm hired one of them that could barely speak English, God only knows how he managed to get a law degree much less pass a bar exam, and no one could understand him. Yet all the partners kissed his ass like he was a celebrity. Of course this was a Democrat law firm whose partners idolized the mass murderer Mao.

My kid had, at KU, a TA for math, who made no sense and who no one could understand. Luckily my kid is smart enough to teach himself the subject from the materials.

I am so tired of Americans just accepting everything as “cool” and “it’s all good.”

Give them credit for designing viruses every couple of years to target their aged. Genetics is so advanced I think they could locate a gene expressed by someone living, lets say in Wuhan.. and crank out the totalitarian death macines.

It goes beyond that; we train their young communist leaders in our schools, hire them in our firms, then complain when they steal trade secrets. They are no “enemy” to our elites; they are a factory, and a boogieman for pure political theater.

Take a look around. The Trump admin just charged their military for hacking our companies. Yet we still trade with them. R’s and D’s always put money over our country. We export gas to the commies so they can advance their tech and economic developments. No country post WW2, helped to harm or kill more Americans than china has. Either coming over the hills in Korea, or aiding and supporting the nva. Nuts.

"It is hard to believe that in 2020, the world's largest and second-wealthiest country, which boasts of high-tech consumer products and gleaming cities, has imprisoned in "re-education camps" more than 1 million Uighur Muslims in the manner that Hitler, Stalin and Mao once relocated "undesirable" populations."

_____________

........ not so hard to believe.
