The problem is not homelessness. It’s the legalization of drug addiction and vagrancy. The money is going to subsidize the behavior street people and the support organizations who make a profit exploiting them. Liberals call this compassion.
You can divide them into three categories: (1) druggies, who can’t be helped, (2) paranoid schizophrenic types, who need institutional orders from a judge, and (3) people who need life-coaching and a year of real support from the regional government. On this last group, I’m not convinced that staying in California is worth discussing because of the cost of living and low potential for new jobs. I also say the same for NY City and a dozen urbanized areas.
