The election is 8 months away. If barr leaves, and I hope he does, it will be old news in a week or two. This will have no effect on the election of POTUS. But it will in the senate if Trump does not get his nominee in place quickly. This is an election year with a popular POTUS. If the gopE congress continues to obstruct Trump, that would cause more down ticket gopE senators problems with thier base. mcconnell knows this. That is the reason Trump was acquitted by 52 gopE senators, otherwise there would have been many more defections. Trump has power, now is the time to use it.
