President Donald Trump is expected to commute the sentence of former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, multiple senior level sources tell ABC News.

Among the causes that lead to Blagojevich's original conviction was the charge that he sought to exchange an appointment to former President Barack Obama's vacated U.S. Senate seat in exchange for campaign money.

Blagojevich, a Democrat, has been a resident of the Federal Correctional Institution, in Englewood -- near Littleton, Colorado -- since March 15, 2012, where he is known as Inmate No. 40892-424.

This is how Illinois politics works. Hopefully Blago can be of use before he commits Arkancide.

Says it’s because it was a Comey group prosecution and sentence was too long.

Blagojevich was tried and convicted in 2009-2010, after Comey had left the Justice Department and before he was appointed head of the FBI. How could this be a "Comey group prosecution" when Comey was working at Lockheed Martin at the time?

He can vote when he gets out. But he’s ineligible to run for public office.

Not a fan of Blago, but his sentence was outrageous

Maybe he meant Mueller.

It always felt like Blagojevich had something on some big people?
Maybe he just had a over sized ego like most of them.

He was not railroaded. He was so blatant not even being a Democrat could help him. Would you just like to make it illegal for any Democrat to be convicted?

Why?

Blago probably has a lot of dirt on other Dem politicians still in office like Madigan and Pritzker

He can do it after the election at the start of his 2nd term but since Blago is a Dem he is commuting he should also commute or pardon his favorite Republican and then he can sell it as doing it in the interest of fairness without partisan overtones because he is also commuting a Dem

I am no apologist for Blago, but he has suffered real injustice from a corrupt Obama/Clinton system.

Public officials who abuse their power should get double or triple a private citizen sentence

I hope commutation is a Quid Pro Quo for him to talk.

“Public officials” write the law, so that’s unlikely to happen.

“The president also pardoned Bernard Kerik, the former New York City police commissioner, and Edward DeBartolo, a former owner of the San Francisco 49ers and Mr. Milken, the investment banker who was known in the 1980s as the “junk bond king”.”

I think it looks like he’s commuting sentences or pardoning rich people. (or formally rich)

Just hope that Blago fades into oblivion. Sentence was excessive, but he's from the same mold as Stone - flamboyant, know-it-all.

So far we’ve pardoned a corrupt businessman from 20 years ago, and a corrupt Democrat Chicago politician. What about some Pardons and commutations for Flynn and Stone who were targeted corruptly because of their association with Trump? What about manafort, sitting in solitary confinement simply because he was associated with Trump?
