You have to go to court. This is not just willy-nilly. A lot of people are concerned about that. There is due process. There is strong due process, he said.
But a veteran who just had his firearms taken from him due to a mix-up would likely beg to differ with the senator.
Jon Carpenter, a 200-pound fisherman and military veteran, was stunned when he received a certified letter from Florida officials telling him that his firearms license had been suspended, WTVT reported.
Jon is a law-abiding citizen who has the misfortune of having the same name as a drifter who had threatened an elderly couple.

2. The writer confused the issue which could have easily been corrected by indicating CCW License. NOT 'gun' license. Some jurisdictions perhaps, but as I recall, FL ain't one of them.
3. Red flag laws are being abused in a lot of places on a whim. WTH? Where is our 'buh-zillionaire' that support the 2nd amendment?
4. STOP INFRINGEMENT!
We need to institute Red Flag laws for Elected as well as UNelected “officials” across the fruited plain.
How about Red Flagging wacko Commie politicians to prohibit them from having armed security???
If they are against people having guns, make it illegal and a jailable felony for them to hire any security that uses guns.

He was confused by bureaucrats with someone who had the same last name as him.
They didnt bother to do any investigating to be sure they had the right guy and slapped a red flag order on him.
Red flag laws can be abused.
WILL BE ABUSED.
“WILL BE ABUSED”
As certain as the day is long.
That’s why smart gun owners go out of their way to keep a very low profile.
Nobody should know that you have arms.
The second amendment appears to forbid it, in fact. The requirement, that is.
Any one who can not be trusted to be armed should not be running around loose.
Because the minute you say it's unconstitutional dipsh!t constitutionally challenged morons claim they know best.
Or chicken sh!t police say they were just following orders.
“Jon is a law-abiding citizen who has the misfortune of having the same name as a drifter who had threatened an elderly couple.”
And this is why red flag laws should not exist.
You see, government screws up all the time.
And they refuse to fix it for decades if ever.
