"You had ONE job...!"
...and it wasn't jacking off about how superior your are for resisting Trump.
right, we know the Sars Cov vs Covid. but now they want to argue over the Sars bit. It’s not sars, it doesn’t do this sars thing or that sars thing. Sars is scary Sars is racist blah blah blah. Bunch of flippin’ bureaucrats...useless
I agree, I sure wish there was a way to get this to him.
Taiwan could fill many areas. Problem is, China has been overflying Taiwan. I guess to show they can still reach out and touch them. I would be cautious of China going elevator spitter - if we can’t manufacture, neither can you or, worse, we’re taking your country and manufacturing over. Might get nasty since most of China’s military brass are crazy by any standard. And China thinks it’s their world and everybody else just lives in it.
That is the thing that bothers me on some of the threads that people seem relieved that this virus may impact Asians more.
First, 60% of the world is Asian. We dont just rely on China for imports but Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Vietnam, Phillipines, S. Korea, etc. While I agree that we need to not rely on other countries so much (I buy in the USA when I can), the fact is that at the moment, we do. We have to deal with this reality and there is no changing that in a few weeks.
Second, 5.6% of the US population is Asian. Even an epidemic in the US that only hit Asians severely would be enough to overwhelm our system to the point that people not infected could die from lack of medical care for other conditions (I.e., collateral damage).
Third, the whole ACE2 argument for Asians, IF TRUE, is also true for smokers and only slightly less for other races, so add that to the total who can get severe disease.
Fourth, viruses mutate. The more it infects, the more opportunity it has to do so.
And finally, there are a lot of Freepers Im sure who are Asian, married to an Asian, adopted an Asian, etc. this is not an Asian problem, right now it is a human race problem.
I am as against globalization as a person can possibly be; however, this is where we are NOW. When the immediate danger has passed we will have an iron-clad argument against globalization for sure, but,for now, we need to put out the wildfire.
My rant for the day.
BC has a very large chinese pop (12%), many of which recently returned from China holiday. Besides, the me-me’s quit and are now royal in name only. Not that they’ve managed to find an enouraging word for Sussex, home of several cases of this virus. Balmoral may be the safest refuge for the real RF. No cases in Scotland yet?
Scary!
Did they send a pdf attached to announcement?
I was just curious if they’d generated a new/updated pandemic procedure, or were using one dated previously (say 2016).
Thanks.
