I sense that most of us are now somewhat polarized by Rush's appraisal of the Stone situ, to the point that Steyn replayed Rush's whole 11-minute monologue today (which was a little weird, that Premiere is panicking about their money goose to the point of making the show do something they've never done before, which is replay full 'thought' blocs of yesterday's show, and they did it not once but twice today); and now we're invested in seeing Stone either probated or pardoned.
And yeah, your scenario is not far-fetched given Stone is a blowhard, which was Rush's assertion of a mitigating factor to begin with.
Don’t get me wrong — while I believe Stone lied, his lies were inconsequential in the end; his actions were the actions of as you said a blow-hard, and he could easily have been sentenced to time served. But he was not “innocent”, and his lies made things worse for Trump, so I am not as excited to see him pardoned as others. I would not be upset at all if he was found not guilty by a jury who decided he was just an old man acting important, and that the crimes were not worth the effort of charging him.
