The courts have also ruled that felons don’t have to fill out the form as it would violate their 5th Amendment rights.

It’s only used to harass the lawful.

Our district tried something like this one year. It was a family pledge to fight drug an alcohol abuse. They didn’t (couldn’t) make anyone sign, but if you didn’t return the form, your kid didn’t get an asterisk next to their name in the student directory. Those who returned the form got the asterisk.

Our kids weren’t even listed in the directory because we opted out altogether.

Only about 10% of those in the directory had the asterisk.
