I’ve heard that the nurses are having to take their masks off after about 6 hours and huff o2 because the masks are restricting breathing. Is it possible some of the ‘drop dead’ folks were suffocated from over-wearing masks?

If that is true it hints at something else.

I have worn an N95 mask, and a full face respirator, for 10 hours straight. Now I learned to not eat anything smelly before putting it on, but I never passed out.

This was routine at one point in my life.

However, if you are having issues breathing through a typical surgical or N95 mask, you have preexisting lung capacity issues. Often times smoking.

No idea what the characteristics of these masks are, but for military MOPP gear, it takes some practice to get used to the masks. The first time we went ‘running’ (bouncy-walking) in them, we had a lot of folks pass out or have to stop after a couple hundred yards. After a couple of months of weekly training in them, we could wear them all shift and even play volleyball.

I’d expect anyone at home with them would just yank them off if they couldn’t breathe - if they wore them at all there.
