Economic instability was a lot of the lure.
Lowering the trade tariffs and watching industries and jobs go offshore, soured a lot of children on capitalism.
Watching their parents go through unemployment, have to move, lose the house, go through stress, etc.
But it wasn’t capitalism’s fault. It was government trade policy fault. Capitalism has always provided a higher standard of living than socialism.
The high level of school debt has also soured some on capitalism. You do conventional wisdom, and go to the best school you can get into, and then you’re facing financial slavery. Again government policy and not capitalism is at fault.
For decades, democrats have been pushing a very liberal agenda in the schools.
Now that all their millennial puppets are of voting age, and pursuing what they were programmed to demand, old school dems such as Chris Matthews, Uncle Joe et al are freaking out
You commies made this problem. Now fix it!
My recollection is that the quote comes from Churchill. Shaw was a socialist until his dying day.
Our university class will be labeled the Clueless Generation, members of which are woefully lacking in the basic survival skills of life.
Capitalism is about making choices. People who go into student loan debt for a degree that cannot repay the loan chose poorly.
Shaw was a FABIAN SOCIALIST, who went even more lefty as he aged, turning into a full blown COMMIE and dying one.
Churchill NEVER said it, nor wrote it; but for some strange reason someone atributted this saying to him, on line and now, almost everyone repeats the nonsense.
I thought it was Lyndon Johnson.
One of the earliest users of the quote was James Madison but its origins go much further back. There’s lots of speculation about who said it first. It certainly wasn’t George Bernard Shaw, who was a staunch Fabian socialist.
Misattributed. That was Churchill, not Shaw.
LOL...not him either!
I didn’t think it was that difficult, even for a young person, to realize there is no free lunch; everything has a price. They will learn in time; possibly after it’s too late.
Thank you, Kaslin, for sharing this EXCELLENT article and explanation of why so many young people are swallowing what the Democrats are spewing!
Sad that these points will never be discussed by media, TV or print, except by some on FNC and that’s like preaching to the choir.
God help America.
Bkmk
Agree....for decades liberals have indoctrinated students and, imho, sadly, parents either didn’t notice or weren’t sure how to combat this.
