Manchin polished up his liberal bona fides with his anti-Trump vote so he can be available as VP (or if the stars align right- Prez!)nomination for the coming 2020 election. Particularly if its a “brokered convention” he’s making himself ready. Also this sets him up to run in 2024. He either has blown off re-election to the Senate in 2024 or thinks WV’ians will forget and the WV GOP runs another mediocre candidate (which they usually do!).
