I tend to hyperbole and broad generalizations just to “stir the pot”. I was thinking SPECIFICALLY of the Broward County deputy who performed so wretchedly at Parkland. Apologies.

PS I was a reserve policeman for 5 years back in “revolver” days...the ‘70’s.

The kid was being obstinate and argumentative. If he had been cooperative, it probably would not have escalated,

“A kid is trying to peacefully leave, and these 2 a-holes are blocking him and causing all this trouble. Over NOTHING! So a kid leaves. Write him up, let his parents/guardians know, and move on!”

I’ve said it a hundred times; cops in schools should be looking out, not in. They should not get involved in school disciplinary situations that wouldn’t have caused the school to call the police if the police were not already there.

Every Police State: If you cooperate with the armed state security officer, then you will have the peaceful life that the state has determined that you should have.

You don’t typically get sent to the hard case school for one run in with the school authorities.

Not if you are a minority, you don't.

Of course we only saw the part of the encounter that the officer chose to record.

Why would anyone associated with the school try to stop this high school student from leaving the campus if he chooses to do so? Seems to me that the appropriate thing for them to do was to get his name, turn it into the office, and let the administrators handle it. The kid would have made it to his appointment, and hopefully, the office would have confirmed that his absence had been approved. No harm-no foul.

I will bet the ranch that if a hoard of students at that school walked out of class and off-campus unauthorized to attend some some liberal sponsored protest event, not one of them would be punished in any way. This kid had the necessary authorization.

Where did you ever get the idea this was a 'hard case' school? Because it has resource officers? Ever heard of Stoneman and laws that were passed afterwards?

Hard to complain about prison guards doing their job. If people don’t like it, don’t blame the guards.

What you did there. I see it. LOL.

(Insert Pelican gif here)

Cindy Bond needs to get called out as well. She stated that William called her the “Hard N” word. Nowhere in the video does he state that comment.

My son has three months of indoctrination left until he graduates. He has taken 3-4 college courses for the last two years and has only two classes that he must attend on a daily basis.

My son’s lowest grade is 94 this semester. He has also missed 16 days of school. All of which I approve and acknowledge. Nearly all of my son’s teachers have missed more days than he has and he is often called upon to teach the class when the substitute is there.

She should be suing. Otherwise they will just ignore her.

I agree 100%. Otherwise they become the “prison guard” instead of the police officer.

FROM THE ARTICLE:

He has since been expelled and sent to the Harry Schwettman Education Center for students who have "been recommended for expulsion or have a behavior pattern which has not been improved by a continuum of positive behavior and academic intervention strategies," according to its website.

I think that qualifies as a "hard case" school, no?

Your point being?

The kid’s leaving the school was obstructed, and he was then expelled and sent to the hard case school. Nowhere in the article, nor any comment here other than yours, assumed the original school was for truant youth.

I broke forum protocol and I read the article
