Not exactly an institute of higher learning.

Correct. Historically Black College. Once upon a time, these schools were decent, albeit segregated and poorly funded, poorly equipped, and without any endowment. Now that talented Black students can do to any university in the country, these schools have fallen on hard times. Unfortunately they are often plagued by corruption among the Administration (Democrats, don't you know).

I spent a week there in the ‘70s for a conference The President at that time was Dr. Peoples who spent a year as our Neighbor in The Twilight Zone when he was on Sabbatical. His son and my Brother became good buds. I had the utmost respect for him and he and Mr. Obra Hackett, treated me like family. A wonderful week of learning and friendship.
