BEIJING - China’s Wuhan city, the epicentre of the coronavirus outbreak, has not been able to confirm all existing suspected cases of the coronavirus despite a rush to speed up testing, the city’s Communist Party Secretary told a news conference on Monday.

Ma Guoqiang said the Wuhan government would, however, aim to test all suspected cases by Tuesday. There have been growing complaints that many patients in the city of 11 million have not been tested or admitted for full-time treatment due to the pressure on medical resources.

They’re going to test 11 million people today?

They’re attachment to the truth has always been tenuous, but this severs the link forever.

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.

Yeah, right...

Gotta wonder how far they intend to go to sanitize Wuhan.
Remember that jungle camp scene in “Outbreak”?

Our CDC says today we are still holding at 12 infected with coronavirus in the USA.

We have one person actively being testing in northern virginia but otherwise no infection CDC says in virginia.

Miracle?

Incubation period up to 24 days.

This looks to be a Spanish flu level kill event.

Millions of people fled Wuhon BEFORE the quarantine went into effect. Too little, too late.

The Chinese may have decided on the only way to effectively contain the virus and that is test, isolate, and slaughter those that are affected.

It didn’t take one day to lock people in their own apartments. So they don’t need “testing” since they already have it? I’m sure the government has a list of undesirables that they’ll be “testing” first. After seeing videos of them chaining doors shut and putting people in metal boxes in the street, I’d be staying away from any government testers.

not a miracle. Science. The ACE2 receptor is what this is latching onto and that is more prevalent in Asians.

Notice that the death/recovered rate in Hubei province is over 30%, but in the other provinces with more than 100 recovered the total dead is 12 vs 903 recovered.

Agreed, I never believed that story. That would be like half of New York filing out of the city, no way.

It took weeks to chain/bolt the many tens of thousands (millions?) of doors sealed. Sick people are not admitted to any hospitals. Sick people are not tested. Desirable or undesirable has nothing to do with anything. Government testers, aka the PLA, comes to you. People must submit temperatures daily, and they also are taken when they go out - if they have one, they are taken to a quarantine camp and sealed in.

The ‘recovered’ are also dying of organ failure and not counted as a virus death even though the virus destroyed their internal organs.
