BEIJING - People across China trickled back work on Monday after an extended Lunar New Year holiday as the government eased restrictions imposed to counter the coronavirus, but the World Health Organization (WHO) said the number of cases outside China could be just the tip of the iceberg.
The death toll from the epidemic rose to 908, all but two in mainland China, on Sunday as 97 more fatalities were recorded - the largest number in a single day since the virus was detected in the city of Wuhan in December.
WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said there had been concerning instances of transmission from people who had not been to China.
The detection of a small number of cases may indicate more widespread transmission in other countries; in short, we may only be seeing the tip of the iceberg, he said in Geneva.
The virus has spread to at least 27 countries and territories, according to a Reuters count based on official reports, infecting more than 330 people. The two deaths outside mainland China were in Hong Kong and the Philippines.

We will know in 2 weeks, or a month at the latest. The non-China cases vs time can be time-shifted and compared to the China curve.
Remember the movie “The Fog”? Looking at the smog in china it reminds me of that movie.
Our people in Taiwan are complaining of the new nasty clouds coming over from the mainland. These clouds are blacker than normal and smell worse. Cremation fires?
Damn.. if that's the case, there's a whole lot more to the story in China than we're being told.

It looks like the Chinese are trying to reopen for business.
As it gets worse I get the feeling what we are being told by China happened a while ago. Sort of like tape delay. So 97 dead reported is like what happened a month ago. What is happening today might be revealed sometime in the future.
Need UV-lamps and hand sanitizer.
Possibly, since I've read reports that mass cremations ARE occurring in China, which would undercut China's numbers of deaths.
I don’t know how many people you need to cremate to create a smog like that. Just compare it to the quantity of coal and bunker oil burned. Bullcrap.
Sulphur clouds from the bodies being burned.
Kill rate is 14-17%. One victim caught it standing for two minutes next to an infected person. Millions fled the city before the quarantine went into effect.
We need to shut our walls. This is an easy cheap bio attack waiting to happen.
That may just be there everyday smog depending on what city the pic was taken.
I’m inclined to think that you are right—but the human body is 60% water, and much of the rest of the content is not readily flammable, so you need a fairly hot fire to cremate rapidly, and a very hot and large fire to cremate rapidly.
Brandy doesn’t have a high enough alcohol content to sustain a fire for a prolonged time—and in distilled liquor everything that is not water is alcohol.
Sustaining a fire with human bodies would be, at best, like trying to sustain a fire with American beer. It doesn’t take a great deal of American beer to put out a small fire. Even less if it has been processed improperly.
Kill rate 14-17%?Where on earth did you manufacture that number from?
Reported cases 40651 with confirmed deaths of 910 is a kill rate of about 2.3%

One idea that nobody talks about, is the severity of the Corona-virus while in China. Obviously China healthcare is lacking. And that is especially true of Chinese hospitals. They are very bad. In fact they are ridiculously bad. But one of the big factors in fatalities is whether or not the patient smokes, or had smoked. In china many people smoke. Thats especially true of the older generation. Death is almost always caused by pneumonia in the lungs. But nobody is talking about the Chinese pollution. If you have never been to China, you may not believe how bad it is. Let me tell you that Chinese pollution is harsh.
So its possible the disease is far more deadly in China than the rest of the world because china smokes more than we do. Their hospitals are far worse than ours. And their pollution is horrible. If you take all that out you have a virus that is very infectious. But may not be more deadly than the ordinary flu. The one thing that the west is worried about, is that the infectious nature of this bug may swamp our healthcare system. And we may not be able to handle the shear volume of patients all at once. But if people convalesce at home and haven’t smoked, maybe we don’t have to.
.
Beware air freight or air mail from China.
“Where on earth did you manufacture that number from”
Making up numbers is fun and easy. Anyone can do it.

Maybe there are some records from Germany
LOL, yes it seems so. But I wonder why here on FR?
I suppose just another pearl clutching gloom and doomer.
