Id have to see actual footage of Trump saying that to believe that he said it exactly that way.

I think Ive watched nearly every Trump rally and dont remember him ever saying that.Yeah, the author lost me there.

Coppins article, like many that have come before it, seems to basically assume that the media consensus that reflects the worldview of a largely secular, center-left coastal overclass, a.k.a. subscribers to The Atlantic, is more or less the truth.

At one point, during a riff on abortion, Trump casually asserted that the governor of Virginia executed a babyprompting a woman in the crowd to scream, Murderer!
This incendiary fabrication didnt seem to register with my companions in the press pen, [ . . . ]that there were certainly different ways to interpret his comments but that not even the most ardent anti-abortion activist thought the governor of Virginia had personally executed a baby.;
By that reasoning, neither Herod, Capone nor Hitler would be "murders" because they didn't directly participate except through order or permission.

It's going to take a hell of a lot of reason giving to get any honest person to trust these clowns!

I realized that every time the media reported an event I knew something about, they got it wrong.
That's because j-students are taught to angle the story towards the "greater truth", not what actually happened, or what actually caused it, or ...

The "Executed a Baby" line is at 1:12:45 in the Tupelo facebook vidio of the Trump rally.
It is clearly a bit of hyperbole, which virtually everyone there knew was hyperbole.
Link to Tupelo MS Rally 1 November, 2020, on Youtube.
McKay Coppins is seeing the effect of the ablility of the common man to check out the reality with a few mouse clicks.
That is why no one trusts the old legacy media anymore.
That is a very good thing.

My twin brother is constantly quoting Rachel Maddow. I don’t listen to him anymore and hang up on him often.
