And, we are told that the Chinese are lying with the ~500 deaths, but we are then told that according to some other (most reliable) Chinese insiders, that there are 100,000 or 500,000 deaths and they are the ones to believe.

Why does China prevent travel of who know how many millions? Why did they shut down Tiananmen square with tanks? Why do the y censure the internet in their country? Why do they harvest organs from political prisoners? Because they are a communist dictatorship and they can. It's all about saving face to them.

On a, long, tangent. There is only 1 thing that could cause trouble for Trump's reelection. A tanked economy. Now, I'm not referring to his core base. I'm talking about the "independents" and "blue dog" dems. If the hysteria causes the market to tank...and for govt's to take drastic actions due to that public hysteria, the economy could take a major hit just in time to erase the economic successes Trump has gained. This could prove to be the only legitimate challenge to his reelection.
Trump himself, just the other day said he believed China is doing fine with the situation (paraphrasing). Is he lying too? Are we now not supposed to believe Trump?

What could make it worse?
1) Well, this disease takes some time to kill, probably about 4 weeks. Plus, the disease incubates for a while (up to 2 weeks) before presenting symptoms (that look just like the “regular” flu), all the while the infected person is contagious.
2) We can poke fun at any given Turd World medical system all that we’d like to do so, but if we get 500,000 cases by the end of April you’re going to have our system overwhelmed, and the standard of care won’t be that much better. That to me is the key - how many people get infected. There are only so many doctors and nurses (and they can get sick, too), so many hospital beds and so much in the way of critical medical supplies. Our medical system is like our grocery or department stores - it, too, runs on a JIT inventory system. Overwhelm it, and it definitely won’t function as designed.
Complacency is not advised. Neither is running around with one’s hair on fire. Realism is the best solution - and it IS possible to have a disease running around among the population that is quite virulent and not subject to control/cure before it makes quite a mark on us. If it does have “just” a 2% mortality rate, and 30 million people get it, that means 600,000 dead, which is no joke.
