What a ridiculous accusation. I did not quote any figures, certainly not “for purposes of this thread”. I merely based my argument against 2019-nCoV being a bioengineered weapon based on credible reports gathered so far.

So, let your position stand. I think that you are comparing apples to oranges (i.e. all deaths to all infections, without letting the current infections run their course), but we can agree to disagree.
I, myself, have said that while it MIGHT be a bioweapon, someone has to prove that to me. It’s not that I trust the Chicoms to be benevolent, but:
1) It isn’t a simple to whip up such a disease;
AND
2) be able to get away with disbursing it - which necessarily implies BOTH large-scale immunity in one’s own country AND that no one will be able to figure out that you launched this horrible disease. Because if you don’t get away with it, then they proceed to nuke you back to the Stone Age.
