An interesting aside: Remember back when the government(EPA) did the whole ASBESTOS IN SCHOOLS thing, because it was so dangerous and could hurt the kids ? Most of the time the asbestos was in pipe wrapping or ceilings of a 30ft high gymnasium, so the asbestos getting released into the air was minimal.
Automobiles then had asbestos in the brake linings on every vehicle. Two pads for each wheel. Millions and millions of vehicles driving around grinding the asbestos into a very fine particulate and shooting it right out into the air. Because it is so finely ground, it floats in the air and is easily breathed into your lungs.
So , why isn't everyone dead?
I asked the head of the Asbestos in Schools for Region 7 of the EPA why they were ignoring the brakepad issue and concentrating on schools.
The answer was that it would cost the auto industry too much to quit using the asbestos at the time.
Asbestos is not the danger they would have you believe.
Odd my step father and a very good friend both died from mesothelioma, both US Navy vets. Seem there’s a large legal trust account set up by the courts for people exposed to asbestos guess I’ll go with that.
