The world is on fire. But for an increasingly vocal segment of extremely online politicos, there is a greater geopolitical concern hanging over the election: the fear that Pete Buttigieg is secretly an asset, officer, or agent of the Central Intelligence Agency.
The conspiracy theory that Buttigieg is a CIA plant has been congealing in the internet’s fever swamps for as long as profiles of the young candidate have fixated on a biography that, to the conspiracy-minded, seems almost suspiciously clean—the perceived threats of neoliberal imperialists and the “deep state” converging in the unlikely form of a dweebish Midwestern mayor.
“He’s one of the many intelligence community operators working in government,” Steve Poikonen, host of the YouTube vlog series Slow News Day, said confidently in an April episode titled “Pete Buttigieg: CIA Democrat?” In a 13-minute video delineating the conspiracy theory, Poikonen breaks down what he sees as Buttigieg’s Harvard-to-Oxford educational pipeline, his service as a Navy Intelligence officer in Afghanistan after a stint at McKinsey & Co., his fellowship at the Truman National Security Project, and the more than 200 national security and intelligence figures who have endorsed his candidacy, including the former head of the National Clandestine Service and the agency’s former deputy director.
These, Poikonen told The Daily Beast, all amount to evidence that he’s a perfect tool of the intelligence community.
“Put together, a picture forms of an elite-educated, multi-language-speaking employee of the CIA’s consulting firm who currently serves as an intelligence officer in the naval reserves,” Poikonen told The Daily Beast. “If you created a CIA asset in a lab, you’d wind up with Pete Buttigieg.”
Read somewhere that Peter practices his speeches , not unusual for a presenter, but becoming more apparent to me is the similarity of his hand gestures, arm movement, cadence to Barry O.
Re CIA asset , enough there to cause concern, and the ideal “ tolerant candidate” to give him the “ persecuted armor” protection.
His background stinks of Obama grooming grooming or Billy Jeff education.
Major Pete has all of the same properties as 0bama that make him dangerous.
It’s as if he came right out casting to be presented to us.
He came out of no-where and somehow gets into the best schools.
His work record has barely been scrutinized yet he works for some very interesting companies. Thanks to all who are digging and exposing this.
He speaks in an articulate, but ambiguous way. He answers questions with a non-answer, sort of like I imagine they might be taught in spy craft school.
He says he is deeply religious. He says most Christians are not true followers of Christ and they don’t have all the answers. I have no idea what he means by this
word salad.
He presents himself as positive, non-threatening, and non-ideological. In fact, he is the opposite of these attributes, if you really listen to him.
Recall the “IT’S TIME!” movement with Obama? If you weren’t onboard, then you were a bigot. If you criticized the One, you were a racist.
Mayor Pete is trying to recreate that, and the media is doing all the heavy lifting for him. Does anyone see any similarities in how he speaks and uses his hands while talking? Looks like he has been getting some tutoring. I wonder who that person might be be?
All aspect of his personal life will be off limits. You will be accused of bigotry/homophobia if you bring up the fact that he married a man.
His sexual orientation will be “that which may not be mentioned” but it will be celebrated in many circles as he gushes that they want children “as soon as possible”.
If you go over to the crazies on some FB sites, many are already expressing that “IT’s TIME” we had a gay married couple in the WH. They are all a flutter that this will “stick it to the establishment and especially the old, rigid and white republicans.”
Major Pete will continue the damage Obama started and more.
He presents a clear and present danger to this country.
Republicans better be on guard.
