Alexander Vindman made my skin crawl since he first started talking in the Impeachment inquiry, I do not know why. I just did not trust anything he was saying. He struck me as being a weasel. Looking back, I think my first impression was good.

Better to keep him on active duty for right now. That way he’s still subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice, not just civilian law. More ways to prosecute him. Oh, and since he’s an officer, general court martial (the most serious type) is the only military trial option. Fort Leavenworth is a possibility.
He can’t be fired BUT he can be transferred to Alaska!! If he doesn’t want to go BYE, BYE!!!

Sure you are, but I'm not interested in dwelling on that.
If the CIC wants a service member gone or reassigned to the North Pole they are gone and there is no recourse. There is no court they can appeal to since the CIC is the final word in cases like this.
I may not have served in the military but I still think I'm a pretty good observer. And maybe since I don't have any preconceived biases one way or the other it's easier for me to spot one important fact that you may be overlooking. This in not Trump's Pentagon. It's Mattis's Pentagon. The generals and admirals there are not Trump's men. They don't like him or respect him. Mattis didn't so why should they? And because of that they will do their best to protect the Vindman's from Trump. Vindman will still go to the Army War College. His brother will get a significant post. Both may eventually get promoted. Unless Trump wants to get down in the weeds and personally write the orders then they both will go on with their careers. And if Trump does that then it makes for terrible visuals and may well cost him among the military rank and file, not just the generals and admirals.
I said I was not being critical of you BECAUSE you never served. I was being critical of you because you have no basis for assuming/guessing/conjecturing what goes on within the military and I do as do others who have posted in this thread.
The Pentagon is NOT as you seem to think “Mattis’s Pentagon” Mattis as does every enlisted or officer grade individual answers to and serves at the pleasure of the President and Commander in Chief of the armed forces who at this time happens to be Donald J Trump, President. Therefore your statement claiming, “This is not Trump’s Pentagon, it is Mattis’s Pentagon” is patently absurd and not even worthy of discussion. The military answers to a civilian authority in all cases and that includes all members therein INCLUDING Generals.
Trump can ask for the resignation of any General including of course Mattis who was btw put in his job by the President.
The extent of a Presidents authority regarding the military are not understood by most and certainly not by those such as you who have no experience and little knowledge of the military and the rules by which it operates.
As commander-in-chief, the President exercises supreme operational command over the military; which includes the power to launch, direct and supervise military operations, order or authorize the deployment of troops (in foreign countries), and form military policy with agencies and departments within the government and Armed Forces.
One of those rare moments when a political story gives one a feeling of elevated contentment.
