A type of black fungi that eats radiation was discovered inside the Chernobyl nuclear reactor.
In 1991, the strange fungi was found growing up the walls of the reactor, which baffled scientists due to the extreme, radiation-heavy environment.
Researchers eventually realized that not only was the fungi impervious to the deadly radiation, it seemed to be attracted to it.

Sounds like an older Star Trek episode.
“Fungi also collect radioactive particles in the ground their mycelium grow in and remove it by putting it in mushrooms so that animals can eat it and take it away.”
It is always polite to ping the Freeper one is talking about. Especially about such a private matter.
This story would be even better with cockroaches eating the fungi. (The circle of life).
Some organisms are able to transmute elements.
I’ve always wondered why that was such a surprise. Oil is a “natural resource”, something already known to nature. There is always something in nature ready to eat anything else in nature.
“Plants do. Its called photosynthesis. Its not the entire diet, but it is the energy source that converts the food to nourishment. Thats probably what this fungi does.”
Interesting comment. Photoreceptors in the eye work similarly.
Eating is not a good analogy, though.
The fungi that ate Cleveland.
Transmutation elements? Excuse me? Examples? Sources?
WOW! That is yet another thing that makes me believe in God. Holy cow!
History shows again and again how nature points out the folly of Man.
Oh, Gus, the Gardener’s gone now
And you went with him, too
The fungus here reminds me of
The fun Gus is having with you

Wow.
LIFE always finds a way.
I didnt write the article and I dont teach in universities where they cant even agree on how many genders humans possess. For the idiocracy we live in, eating is the closest analogy that the dumb masses can understand.
