After President Trump left the House floor last night, Nancy Pelosi banged her gavel stating both Houses were "dissolved." Shortly thereafter, she banged the gavel again calling the House to order, and then left the House floor.

A man (not sure who, sorry) then took the podium and recognized Steny Hoyer who called for the SOTU speech to be entered into the record, and called to adjourn the session.

Congressional meetings get adjourned, not dissolved.

In parliamentary and some semi-presidential systems, a dissolution of parliament is the dispersal of a legislature at the call of an election. Parliaments get “dissolved.”

She’s been in Congress long enough to know that. Was that more senility showing through?
