Dems can not afford to have even 1 vote in favor of Trump. They are likely pressing very hard on the potential flippers to keep them from voting to acquit. The acquittal (for them) has to be solely on party lines.
Thanks to the very creepy Republican Roy Moore, Alabama got stuck with Doug Jones. I hope Alabama has learned its lesson.
And I hope the Alabama GOP also learned their lesson: choose only GREAT candidates and stay away from creepy/controversial candidates like Roy Moore.
I suppose the “vote tally” is news, but I think most of America has lost interest in the impeachment, do not really understand or accept the “crime”, and expects it to be just as it has been from the outset - a partisan endeavor.
The only solution to the partisan divide we currently endure is to give the GOP back the house. The democrats should have given this more thought.
Ryan and his crowd of republicrats are no longer there. This GOP house will be far different and much more conservative than the last one with a Senate tacking to the right and a President who would love to codify his winning agenda.
The DNC has bet the house on impeachment and resistance. Trump is going to make every house race a referendum on his agenda and I am more optimistic now than I was before impeachment that the GOP could gain back the house.
They will have one or two defectors.

Nancy’s “bullet” pens .... symbolic of her attempt to politically assassinate President Trump. If she could REALLY pull off the real thing, she’d do it & Trump knows it. Trump “broke” her last night, no mercy (& she’s in for more ‘no mercy’ treatment) - she sounded drunk, facial expressions were those of a mentally ill woman, mumbling to herself & “jumping the shark” with her ripping up the speech stunt. I hope the door hits Jones in the rear hard when he is kicked out of office by the voters.

Lets say this....if the black vote in Alabama goes near 40-percent for Trump...a fair number of those votes will fall over to Sessions (the probable winner). Jones will be lucky to clear 35 to 40 percent.
I could see Jones attempting to come back in 2022....to challenge Shelby (if he chooses to run again).
