I heard the news about Rush Limbaugh just a few minutes after I concluded Monday’s talk radio show.
Lung Cancer. Felt like a sucker punch.
Rush is one of my radio heroes – like Paul Harvey – a heartland legend.
He’s one of the good guys in the radio business and a brilliant broadcaster and entertainer.
I’ll never forget the first time I heard the Excellence in Broadcasting Network – finally there was a guy on the radio who said what I was thinking.
He helped me find my voice as a young conservative and a broadcaster. He showed the nation that conservatives could be intellectual, engaging and wickedly funny. Anyone remember the Clinton parodies or Algore or Barack the Magic…
El Rushbo used the hallowed EIB Golden Microphone to channel the voices of conservatives from across the fruited plain – from Ivy League students to Blue Collar workers.
His show to this day is indeed a daily excursion into broadcast excellence. And I’m a proud subscriber to the Limbaugh Letter – one of the best political newsletters in the country.
Rush spent his career standing up for conservatives and standing up for talk radio. And now it’s time for us in the industry to stand alongside America's Anchorman during these difficult days.
Pray for Rush and his wife and the Limbaugh family. And pray for the all the good-hearted broadcasters working behind the scenes at the EIB Southern Command.
The Bible tells us that God’s mercies are new every morning. And I pray that the Good Lord will shower Rush and his family with an abundance of blessings every single day.
We all know that Rush Limbaugh is a fighter. And cancer picked a fight with the wrong talk radio host.
Today – we are all Ditto Heads – even you folks in Rio Linda.
Hopefully he will make it to CPAC.
Bo was awesome when Rush brought him on the radio to be the “official Obama criticizer”. And he was right.
Rush gave voice to the millions of us out in fly over country.
Yes. he use to be the only one on the show allowed to criticize Obama.
The fact that they awarded his medal right there instead of waiting for the regularly scheduled ceremony makes me really concerned about his prognosis. Pray for Rush.
If youre white and conservative they will call you a racist. Its bullying of the finest degree, when leftist policies keep groups of people in either patronized or trapped roles. Conservatism wants all boats risen, every person working and receiving their rewards.
If I recollect, the Racist charge goes back to when Rush was just starting out on his Show.
A guy called in and Rush was unable to hear and understand what he was saying. Rush then asked him, do you have a Bone in your Nose or something?
I assume the guy sounded like he was African American, but I’m not sure. Someone here can correct me if I’m mistaken.
Oh, brother. That figures.
I wouldnt call it a break up. I listened to Rush every day for decades. Then one day, like Freud said about parents, I realized I didnt need to anymore. I knew pretty much what Rush would say on about any subject. I had developed my own inner Rush.
They call Rush racist for the same reason they call all of us racist. The Brown Shirt Media will print it.
For me it was a painful breakup. I remember exactly what curve in the road I was on when it happened. However, I dont want to go into it now. Im happy for his award; he deserved it for all he has taught a few generations about our country and politics. I am grateful to him for all he taught me. And he made me happy stealing my jokes. :) I wish him a miracle.
