The State of the Union has been a bitter, bipartisan show for going on fifteen years now. I wish they’d just go back to sending a letter to Congress once a year and be done with it.

On one hand, I agree with going back and send a letter.

On the other hand, in an era of real time media, I would find it difficult for a POTUS of either party to pass up the opportunity because of its political advantages. We got to see clearly that the sore loser demonkraps looked so unhappy and really have nothing of substance to offer to the American people. But for gerrymandered districts, many of them wouldn’t be there.

This President would not get covered on major networks from a written address. As it is they really don’t have a choice about putting him on TV because it is historical and to not cover it would be a big deal. With a written address they would hold it up and tell people what it said and also by the way he would not get attention for making new words like stanctuary cities.
