Iowa Democratic vote-reporting meltdown hands opening to Trump
CNN ^ | Feb 4, 2020 | Analysis by Stephen Collinson, CNN

(CNN)The Democratic 2020 crusade to oust President Donald Trump could not have got off to a more disastrous and embarrassing start.

The party couldn't even deliver a first-in-the-nation election night winner after a vote-reporting debacle in Iowa — where candidates spent months and millions of dollars vying for a glittering opening prize in their nominating duel.

"Iowa, you have shocked the nation," said former South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg.

It was a bold attempt to declare victory in the absence of a result, but the 38-year-old inadvertently cast an ironic judgment on a political train wreck.

The big Hawkeye State miss will be agonizing for whoever comes out on top but for any candidates who under performed -- perhaps former Vice President Joe Biden -- it might turn into a priceless lifeline.

The caucus nightmare also played right into the hands of a President spoiling for months to brand his rivals as weak, disorganized and even worse — plotting to rig the results to hand its crown to an establishment favorite. There's little doubt that Trump, who consistently erodes distrust in institutions and governing systems, will weaponize such a narrative if it looks like he will lose in November.

Trump operatives are already spinning conspiracy theories and disinformation about what the Iowa Democratic Party said were "inconsistencies" in its results. Their aim is to create a narrative that tars the eventual nominee as illegitimate. And on the eve of his State of the Union address and two days before he's set to be acquitted in his impeachment trial, things cannot have worked out better for the President.

"It would be natural for people to doubt the fairness of the process. And these are the people who want to run our entire health care system?” ...

“It sounds like no one is in charge of the demoncrat party”

Maybe Shiffty Eyes should be called in to straighten this out.

Whether you want to believe it or not...from a pretty smart guy commenting on Sundance’s thread...:

===>

Clinton and Bloomberg are longtime friends. Steyer is a Podesta friend/Clinton ally. Clinton’s people are on the convention committee (including Podesta).

Bloomberg’s campaign, like Biden’s, is a proxy, just in a different way. He’s already pledged to spend the money, whomever the nominee will be, and I think it’s because he’s never planned to be the one. That Clinton getting in (or winning) seems so, utterly fantastical does not make it less true: the play here is Clinton.

In a planted Op-Ed in The Hill, she’s already been floated as VEEP to add “gravitas” to the ticket, and was quoted as being excited to jump on board with whomever gets the nomination (really? Clinton excited to run as #2? No one buys it … it’s seeding the concept.)

Chaos is also the best, if not the necessary state-of-play for Clinton to parachute in. First as VEEP — a stabilizing force. Then it’s just a re-shuffle to put her at the top of the ticket. VEEP probably then goes to Warren, thinking it placates the “progressive” wing (it won’t).

Bloomberg has no real pitch on the democrat side (neither did Biden) and he has the feel of a pop-up candidate. His “constituency” is pure donor class and astroturf. Hillary has a narrow band of dead-enders and a pitch: I beat Trump once in the popular vote, I can do it again, and I’m eager to settle the score.

What really matters is she still owns the party. That’s how she got her people on the convention committee, which only matters if there’s going to be a need to control it. She’ll take it in broad daylight, with Bernie people (and others) eyes wide open. Clintons and the DNC don’t care. That’s what narrative engineering is for.

I’ve been telling my family this for months. After tonight, I finally won a convert. And she’s PISSED. A long way to go yet, but this might turn out to be that moment that once you see, you can’t unsee.

Maybe the computer that try to tally the caucus’ results was non-binary.

Izzat your quote or did you lift it from somewhere else? Because if it’s your quote you win today’s internet.

"but they can’t even successfully stage a fake,
Soviet-style “election.”"

To be successful doing that you have to be willing
to successfully "disappear" people.
"Oh Hillary, DNC calling on line one!"

"Trump, who consistently erodes distrust in institutions and governing systems, will weaponize such a narrative if it looks like he will lose in November."

Who let this 'journalist' actually write this driveling material?

Any opponent worth their salt will use this material to point out the utter incompetence of the Democrat party as a broken and flawed institution... Regardless of whether they are winning, losing or being anointed. And if this sort of foolishness keeps up... Trump will be anointed.

Any Caucus is a socialist travesty. Everyone should know who they want. One man(woman) one vote. what drugs were they on when they came up with Caucuses.
