Awful that you had to go thru that so young, but you’ve done great!!

My mom had NHL as well about 18 years ago. She handled treatment really well. Last Year, They thought she relapsed, but did not. She ended up with Hodgkins instead. Hodgkins is considered more treatable. But, at her age, she couldn’t have the full treatment. She had B symptoms (daily fevers, sweats, chills) multiple times a day. She never had that with her NHL. I wouldn’t wish those symptoms on anyone.

I got to meet Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart from the Make A Wish Foundation. It was one of the few positives.

My school bully was always after me. His name was Christian. I came back to visit school while on “homebound”. I was finally well enough. He walked up and said “I thought you were dead!” I looked at him and put my hand on his shoulder, and said “Christian, I have cancer. And it’s highly contagious.” He screamed and ran out of the class. It was hilarious.

I was the completely shy kid. I was the absolute introvert. I hated people and dealing with people. I got sick, and figured out quickly that I didn’t have enough time left to let that keep going. So, I forced myself to be different. Now, I’ve done things as much as hosting a conference call with over 1000 people listening to me teaching them. I’ve done presentations to crowds of 2000. I’ve done Karaoke over and over and even did stand-up comedy. Cancer was a horror. But, the things I did to change me, they were a blessing.
