Because in backroom discussions, a bunch of Repub Senators were insisting on time to “speechify”. Mitch is letting them do it .... this may be some of the trade-off for “no” votes on witnesses ... or maybe not.

I am VERY unhappy that Trump will be doing the SOTU before acquittal. He should be able to walk in the House Chamber without that monkey on his back.

because it would take a majority vote and the three traitor GOP Senators each wanted their 10 minutes of yammer time, so any motion to more along would fail ... of course the three traitors didn’t give a damn that they were also giving the Dems 470 minutes to attack the GOP and Trump ...
