Thailand has reportedly seen promising results after treating a coronavirus patient with a mix of two antiviral drugs which are usually used to treat HIV.
Medics tested the drug mix on a patient who was in a 'serious condition' with the disease and within 48 hours they were declared disease-free, reports Bloomberg.
The drugs, originally used for HIV and influenza treatment, were a success according to a medical briefing given by Dr Kriangsak Attipornwanich. ...

Especially on PatPong
It’s a common syllable in Thai names. Several years ago there was a pretty good PGA golfer named Jenny Chuasiriporn.
Pretty sure that's what they did with the experimental treatment they used on the guy in Everett, WA,
Thailand, unhindered by US regulations, has excellent medical care. If doctors are left free to think, integrate, experiment, this is a predictable result.
Wishing more of the same for every doctor treating this virus.
Way to soon to tell, and a single case is virtually meaningless. But, if HIV drugs are the best treatment, and the virus spreads widely, there will not be enough medication. The gay mafia will howl if they can’t get their HIV medicine. There would be commercials about Trump killing gay people to save straight people.
I mean, LPGA.
Well, I guess one positive to the HIV epidemic was that we now have a lot more advanced science of virology.
I’d call this a superbug. We probably can expect more. We’ve had the flu in Mexico, SARS, Ebola, Novel Coronavirus. More are almost certainly on their way.
I’m actually encouraged that we are moving in the right directions. Not only has our science advanced. But politically the world seems to be more open to taking defensive measures like quarantines.
Sure, there is much room for improvement. China was slow about reporting, but not as slow as with SARS.
And China is thought to be lying now about the true scope of the spread. But doctors and nurses and others have braved repercussions by the government to report on it.
Reports on the ground, indicates China has not provided enough resources to care for people. Hospitals are full, and turning away patients with no care and no tests. But China is getting food into the major groceries.
China has taken steps to quarantine entire major cities as well as individual households.
The US even quarantined people though hesitantly at first.
The travel block-aids seem to be working. As the number of cases outside China have not grown much. There are some worrisome hot spots in other asian countries approaching 20 cases each.
I see so many contradictory articles about this disease.
Two days ago, an article discussed the existence of an HIV link to the Coronavirus. A day later, another article states, ‘No.’ There is no genetic link at all. I’m hoping the first article is correct, that we are finding a way to manage, if not cure this epidemic before it becomes a pandemic.
Yikes, I think France should have kept them all. They’ve got reasonably modern health care.
Both could be true. There may not be a link to HIV in Coronavirus, and the HIV drug could help.
I think the second article you referenced debunked the HIV claim by saying that the sequences were so small and common ad to be a meaningless as a link to HIV.
And yes, there is a lot of confusion. It’s like the fog of war.
Dr. Attipornwanawachit?
From another article or maybe in this one too (I only read the headline here lol), the patient was deteriorating rapidly.
I would imagine the first-generation protease inhibitors would all be reasonable to try.
Does “disease-free” mean he’s no longer a carrier?
Can he now ride a subway without people around him worrying about being infected?
Youse makin funna dat guys name?
Maybe youse wanna eat an attic porn sanwich...
Yes, I agree the material is shared with HIV but not distinctive to HIV.
I know.
When we were little, we used to search the phone book for funny names to call and harass people. Not our best moment.
There was a guy in the phone book with the name “Fuk Yu”.
If your name means something really offensive in the country in which you live, it’s time to change your name.
Makes sense. Antivirals should work on a virus.
Trick is getting enough to make a difference.
Guess where most phrama is made. Guess what plants are not working right now.
