McGovern was a far more serious, respectable, and significant person than hes often given credit for ( in light of his huge presidential campaign defeat). Also, he was not a pacifist like hes often portrayed ( for having been against the VN war three years before President Nixon said he was). First Lieutenant McGovern flew 35 missions against Nazi Germany in ww2 and was awarded several medals including Distinguished Flying Cross for saving the life of his crew in a hazardous landing ( damaged plane). He earned a PhD at the evangelical seminary of northwestern university. And he represented South Dakota for many years in the House before being elected to the Senate. And he worked for many years for food for starving people, something he really was seriously concerned about. Not saying you or I would really want him as our president. Not saying that at all. But imho he was a thousand times more credible and accomplished as a person than any of the DNC clowns and communists they got running today. Thats all I mean. ( just compare him to the imho awful likes of Bernie the Red, Fake Injun Squaw, HilLIARy, Buttplug, Bloomie the accomplished but arrogant as Hell gun- grabbing abortionist, etc. ha! A sadder bunch has never been assembled outside an insane asylum) Ps: please no flames. Im not suggesting any of us would have chosen senator McG. Thanks.
Today, he would be a much more appealing candidate than any of the communists the left is stuck with now...
If he had been elected in 72, it would have meant another 8-years of FDR and his agenda...
