Medics refusing to board ships arriving from China? STEPAN KOTCHERGA News January 30, 2020 11:31 am
Strange news, or rumors, from Greece mega container ship YM WARRANTY cant enter Piraeus port on arrival from China, via Singapore and Suez, because medical facilities cant provide proper and reliable medical check of ships crew. It is said, that ports medics refused to board the ship, to carry out crew health screening. With that said, there were no alerts from ships Master, that theres anyone ill on board, or having virus-like symptoms. Whats going on, yet unclear.
Container ship YM WARRANTY, IMO 9757228, dwt 147500, capacity 13900 TEU, built 2019, flag Panama, manager YM LINE.
They have been on a ship for a few weeks.
They are probably the safest Chinese right now...
“there were no alerts from ships Master, that theres anyone ill”
I am sure they will always speak the truth. “Ignore that body in the corner” sez the captain.
Eh, wait 14 days and check them then. Not like they’re going anywhere.
I think that’s wise. Probably unnecessary as someone pointed out, but it’s not a bad thing to do.
Shanghai is the largest container shipping port in the world.
Most of the consumer stuff from China comes in containers.
I forgot the exact details but Shanghai has already been disrupted/delayed and I expect there to be more trouble coming.
During “The Great London Plague” of 1065 arriving ships were ordered to stay at anchor in the Tames river until the plague was over.
