A guy I know is drinking himself to death on taxpayer money via disability and Denver’s “Road Home” program. (won’t call him friend. Was still an a-hole even when sober) I don’t know if he is still alive. Rehab and jail have not worked.
I have a mentally ill son who would be homeless if it weren’t for me. But he cannot live with me, he is too disruptive. My years long efforts to arrange treatment were fruitless, despite lawyers and judges who are friends assisting me with referrals and resources. For the best country in the world, our lack of help for the mentally ill is a disgusting failure.
