Trump’s share of the black vote could go from 8% to 9%, probably mostly in states he will comfortably win or badly lose anyway. A big gain somewhere like Virginia would actually matter. This boomer dream just lives on. That conservative Republican black guy you all knew in the Army 50 years ago was Thomas Sowell. There’s only one of him, unless you count Walter Williams, then there’s two.

You forgot the sarcasm sign. If you are serious, I feel sorry for you.

...unless you count Walter Williams, then there’s two.

And if we count Stormhill, that's three!
Look, I understand your pessimism if we only consider recent history; but, until the New Deal and the Great Society, the black vote was Republican. Something that was turned can be turned back and Trump is the historical president to accomplish just that.

Not only veterans, but there are a lot of Black conservative businessmen and blue collar family men. They have benefited greatly from Trump's policies and are increasingly inclined to say so openly and to advocate for his reelection. The lack of any major fresh racial controversy also helps, while the impeachment effort has induced many nascent Black Trump supporters to declare themselves well before the election.
