TOKYO - The government confirmed three more cases in Japan of the new coronavirus on Tuesday, including a tour bus driver who has never been to the central Chinese city of Wuhan, where the outbreak of the deadly virus began in a seafood and poultry market.
The bus driver in his 60s became the first Japanese to be infected with the virus in Japan, the health ministry said. He drove two groups of Chinese tourists from Wuhan earlier this month.
The findings bring the total number of confirmed infections in Japan to seven.
The tour bus made a round trip between Tokyo and Osaka during the period between Jan. 8 and 16, the ministry said.
It briefly stopped in Nara Prefecture, western Japan, according to the prefectural government, which did not give details.
The driver, who is from Nara, was diagnosed with pneumonia on Saturday and has been hospitalized in the prefecture.
The ministry also said a man in his 40s from Wuhan has developed pneumonia and been in hospital in the central prefecture of Aichi. He arrived in Japan on Jan. 20.

Close the border.
That’s a human human in Japan. I’m waiting for a human human in the US. The way I see it the guy in Wa state will have an infected victim emerge about Feb 4th. By Feb 10th if no one has been in the news, it will be good.
The pilots and stewards on those long flights from Wusan to North America have the same risk. They go home to their families, their families go to work, shop, school......
Many stay in hotel rooms on lay-overs and contaminate those.

Gee.....I wonder how many stops they made, along the way. And, how many people working/visiting along those stops also contracted this (exchanging money, using same restrooms, etc.)
It is like a bad horror movie.
Distance between Tokyo and Osaka.....247 miles.....one way.
I dont mean to laugh, but I was thinking the same thing ...
I wonder if they got on the Japanese subway - maybe someone can post a clip of people being boarded
I wonder when the CDC is going to accept it be human to human. There was another documented one in Germany this morning.
By now, the CDC has no doubt on a working basis accepted casual human to human transmission as established. Complete scientific proof though will take longer.
Walk through airline terminals.
This is almost proof of airborne vector of infection. It has also been established that it is infectious before symptoms are present in the infected person.
The Genie is out of the bottle and will not be contained. However, as in past corona viruses it may mutate to a less lethal form. I hope so. If not, if present mortality rates given by the Chinese are correct we could loose 3 percent of the worlds population. This is about 200 million people.
The third world with limited medical facilities will be hit the hardest.

So much for the Olympics.
