Indonesia's Aceh unveils new female flogging squad

The masked woman nervously approaches her target, shuffles into position and then unleashes a flurry of lashes -- proving herself as the newest member of the first female flogging squad in Indonesia's Aceh province.

The new recruit initially needed some coaxing to punish the offender -- an unmarried woman caught in a hotel room with a man.

Such behaviour constitutes a morality crime in Aceh, the only region in the world's biggest Muslim-majority nation that imposes Islamic law -- known as Sharia.

Will Western feminists condemn this flogging? To the contrary. They will probably praise the Aceh Muslims for allowing women to flog too.

Indonesia is a relatively TOLERANT Muslim country with places like Bali mostly Hindu and/or Buddhist and a significantly large Christian population in places like Surabaya.

However Aceh ( or Banda Aceh ) is DIFFERENT. A lot of Islamic extremists live in that area. This was also the place in Indonesia that was devastated by the Christmas Tsunami of December, 2004.
