You’d think they’d have redundant systems to cover this scenario.

Certainly for the pilot to remain conscious until the plane gets below 15,000 feet. Most people should not have a problem remaining conscious below that level. -Tom

Given what happened with the 737 MAX, where redundant sensors weren’t the rule, it would not surprise me if some high level Pentagon bean counter/desk jockey decided that a redundant $10,000 part was too much to pay to avoid aircrew blackouts. The logic - isn’t joining the military all about taking outsized risks?
