Maybe there is no defensive weapon to intercept simple mortar fire from the locals.
Patriot batteries were designed to intercept incoming rocket fire and missiles.
Israel has more recent stuff to use against rockets from their friendly neighbors - an obvious target like our embassy should have similar defenses, especially for round 2. They should have been flown in, with crews, the day after round 1.
